The Book that Changed My Life: How to be Champion by Sarah Millican

Sarah Millican was one of the first comedian's I saw and she made me fall in love with comedy. I have seen her live a couple of times (and plan to see her again soon!). So naturally when she released her book How to be Champion, I had to read it (and subsequently get it the audiobook).  As to be expected How to be Champion was witty and hilarious but unexpectedly it had a profound impact on my life.  Sarah writes about her life, from being a child in a mining family during the strikes, her ambitions as a writer, her divorce, body image and taking a risk trying stand up comedy for the first time. Each chapter ends with a sprinkle of advice ( How to be Champion Tips ) as she reflects over the life lessons she learnt during that period of her life.  Her words changed my life. I related to her quiet but strong determination she showed throughout her life even as a child. As I have often been described as quietly determined but never really new what that meant until I saw it reflected

Wallflower Explorer: Tynemouth Aquarium

Welcome to my first post official post in my Wallflower Explorer Series ! In this series (which you can read more about here ), I will be sharing my some of my favourite places to visit alone. Sprinkled in with some tips to help you feel more confident visiting places alone. Tynemouth Aquarium is one of my favourite places to visit. I have even treated my self to an annual pass so I can visit as many times as a like.  So why are Aquariums a great activity to do alone.  Firstly, there is so much to see! I have been a few times but there is always something new to see. Whether that is a new breed of fish I hadn't noticed before or just seeing one of the animals do something different. For example, the first couple of times I visited the turtles were sunbathing (looking very majestic I must say!) However, the last time I visited they were swimming around which was fascinating to watch. I have to say they weren't very graceful and kept swimming into each other.  A benefit of going

Wallflower Explorer: Series Introduction

As I mentioned in my first blog post , in my 20's I started to feel lost. I suspect this is a common feeling as we all leave either our home towns or possibly (as I did) leave University. When I left University I moved away from my friends to London with my boyfriend.  At this point in our relationship we were both doing shift work which often meant I would have days alone whilst he was working. I quickly realised I didn't want to stay boxed up in our tiny flat (I mean flat is a bit generous it was more a cupboard with a bed in it!). So I started to explore London on my own. As I mentioned in my first post I would write about where I went and share photos. Through which I developed a love of photography. Though I was slightly forced into spending time on my own I soon discovered the importance of spending time in my own company. For me this was confirmed when I travelled across the UK (starting from Edinburgh and ending in London) alone. I stopped in eight cities. I was so ner

An Introduction to Enchanting Emerald Explorer

Hello,  Welcome to my little corner of the internet. This is going to be a long introduction so get grab yourself a cuppa and get comfy.  Background I'm in my mid 20's and I feel, well I guess the best way to describe it is lost. I know I'm not alone and this has probably been exaggerated for many of us over last couple of years. As if you are like me you have been in 'survival mode'.  I'm grateful to have a lovely life with wonderful people in it. However, I have missed that feeling of excitement from doing something you love.  So I started to think about hobbies I used to enjoy. I even considered getting Sea Monkey's. (Now isn't that a throwback to the early 2000's!). Which lead me to deciding to create this blog.  For the love of writing! Writing is an activity that I have always enjoyed. Whether that was writing stories as a child or dipping my toes into blogging on Tumblr (again another throwback!) as a teenager.   Several years ago I started a
