In my latest post Painless and Practical Ways to Make Extra Cash I recently shared four tips to make extra cash. We are all feeling the financial pressure at the moment, one way to easy some of the pressure is to save money. Even if it's a small amount it all adds up!
In today's post I'm going to share with you some easy and effective ways to save money.
Put a little aside each month
This is a golden but classic piece of advice! Every month put a bit of money aside for a rainy day. You will be really grateful when those unexpected costs appear. Such as when my car tyre burst, that's a whole other story!
Save the Student vouchers and freebies
Though I am no longer a student (and haven't been for almost 5 years, where does the time go!?). Save the Student is still a great way to find discount codes, offers and freebies to help you save some cash. Remember though if you weren't going to buy the item anyway buying it with a discount code isn't saving any money.
Olio and Facebook for freebies
I have mention Olio previously in my post 10 Simple Ways to be more Eco-Friendly. It is a great app for collecting free items and food. You can also request items, I recently got some beautiful house plants for free by requesting them.
On Facebook join your local free group. You will be amazed what free items people can give away.
Next time you need something see if you can get it for free before buying it.
Invest in yearly memberships
If you visit somewhere often consider buying a years membership. Though this can be more cost upfront it saves you money in the long run. For example Tynemouth Aquarium (which I have written a post about here) has a annual membership for around £45 compared to £15 per trip. I have already gone six times this year so buying the annual memberships has saved me a lot of cash. Maybe look into the places you visit frequently.
Free activities
There are plenty of free hobbies such as running, writing, reading or simply exploring your local area. You can also often find free events. I find Facebook is the best way to find free local events.
Upcycle what you have
Again I mention this in my my post 10 Simple Ways to be more Eco-Friendly. Before you buy something new see if you already own something that can be repurposed. For example reusing glass jars to store food in.
There are a few of my tips for saving money. What money saving tips do you have?

But great post!
